BOAT TRIPS
Boat Trippers Welcome
An organised boat trip is a wonderful way to see the Isle of Man’s stunning coastline and marine wildlife from a unique and fascinating perspective.
Whether you choose a pleasure cruise, fishing trip or wildlife tour, a boat trip on Manx waters will be a memorable and exciting experience.
A number of companies offer boat trips throughout the year and can cater for general or specialist requirements – including photography trips or just a simple coastal cruise.
Please note:
All trips depend on the weather and tide times so you’ll need to see the boards in both harbour areas for more information.
Boat Trips have always been popular in Port Erin!
Boat trips are one of the main tourist activities undertaken by the first Victorian tourists to Port Erin.
“The Calf Islet is also often visited by boat from Port Erin, the distance being 3 miles. The charge for boat and men is 10s. Those who take this excursion might get the boat-men to land them at the Sound, and thence walk ½ mile to Craignaish, and, after visiting the Chasms, return to Port Erin, or descend direct to Port St. Mary.”
from Jenkinson’s Practical Guide, 1874
In 1940 the local tourist guide advertised over a hundred rowing boats for hire!
