GETTING AROUND
Being only 32 miles in length and 14 miles at its widest point, all the fantastic places on the Isle of Man are close by and easy to get to. Enjoy the views of the idyllic Manx Countryside, beautiful bays, and rugged coast, no matter which way you decide to travel around the Island.
Bring your Car or Motorcycle and have the freedom to travel at your own pace and explore the entire island. The Falcon’s Nest has plenty of parking, and is a great base for your Isle of Man holiday. Or why not Hire a car and take to the open roads? The majority of car hire companies are based at Ronaldsway Airport in Ballasalla.
The Isle of Man is well served by a variety of Tour operators who are qualified to guide, offering minibus, motorcycle or trike tours throughout the Island.
Taxis are available locally, giving you complete control of where you want to go without having to rely on fixed schedules.
Public transport is readily available, with an integrated network of road and rail passenger transport. There’s an extensive Bus network – Bus Vannin – that serves the whole Island on a regular basis including a regular service to Douglas, and all places en route including Castletown and Ronaldsway airport. Services also link to Peel, Ramsey and the north.
Port Erin is at the southern terminus of the Isle of Man Steam Railway, so Douglas, the Island’s capital, is only a 15 mile ride away on the Steam Train. Stations on the line include Port St Mary, Castletown and Ballasalla.
The best way to get a great sightseeing experience on the Isle of Man is to purchase a Go Explore card which allows you to travel seamlessly across all Isle of Man Transport scheduled bus and rail services including the Steam Railway, Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway, Douglas Horse Trams and buses. Get yours online or locally from the Port Erin Railway Station.
